This year, I was tasked with making a pair of slacks and a blazer. For the theme, I was inspired by my favorite song written by the kpop boy group Stray Kids. The song is called "Case 143", which spells out the number of letters used to write "I Love You". The music video that went with the song had these creatures called "heart monsters" who all have varying personalities, colors, and characteristics.
For my suit, I used a solid blue suit fabric for the blazer and slacks, so that way the focus wasn't super overwhelming. Once I had constructed the suit, I created multicolored heart patches that were hot-glued onto the blazer. For the pants, I decided to spray paint "143" onto the right pant leg; I got the idea from the trend of jeans with spray painted flowers or hearts. I used a hot pink spray paint so that the numbers would be visible for the audience from a distance. To finish off my piece, I created a heart monster headband as a headpiece, and a stuffed heart monster that my model carried as a prop/accessory.
